*chants* Hood ROS, hood ROS!

Wow, winter's gonna be really wintery this year, I guess.

Angus: Mmff, time to let me up, Gytha.
Gytha: Nooooo, my heat source, don't leave me.
Angus: You'll be nice an' warm if you lemme up so I can build up the fire.

Gytha: So... want to have a baby?
Angus: Really? You feel ready now?
Gytha: As much as anyone can, I think!

Daisy and the kittens are doing well. Daisy is teaching them the song of their people.

Gytha, though, has picked up that cold that started going around last round.

Luckily she has Angus to feed her medicines and herbs as needed.

When she's not working with Shep, Gytha still spends a lot of her time weaving.

Meanwhile, the townsfolk are flocking to get cold cures and warming potions from Angus's little potion stand.

Date night at the mead hall! With winter settling in, people around town have started decorating with pine wreathes and holly branches to brighten the season.
These two are so easy to keep happy, they just want to tell each other jokes, dance, and maybe make out a bit. Good for them.

Spotted: Uncle Xiang teaching Senovara how to play liar's stones. (Also, I like Eisu and Angus's matching outfits, lol.)

And Gytha had a chance to chat with her brother when he stopped in on his way home from the shop for the day. He's eager to tell her all about how Gwen, Eamon, and Meria are doing.

Daisy's two kittens are getting bigger by the day. Unfortunately, they won't be staying once they grow up—I think Gytha would be happy to have a whole clutter of cats, but I have other households that I want to get some kitties into. :') Diseta in particular has had a 'obtain pet' want locked for at least one entire round.

Angus: It's really coming down out there.
Gytha: Mmm. Sounds like a good reason to stay in bed today.

Unfortunately, her queasiness eventually drives her up, though she never actually gets sick.

Angus: Snow is much better behaved than you are.

Angus spends the morning restocking his tinctures and teas.

Daisy spends the morning doing cat things.

Gytha is trying to teach her to sit up on command. Daisy has no idea what this human is going on about, but she enjoys the attention.

Gytha: How you much wanna bet that Enna will try to convince us to name it 'Angytha'?
Angus: Don't even joke about that.
Gytha: If it's born a girl... could we name her after my mother?

Angus: Of course. I think Morwenna would be a lovely name.
Gytha: Much better than Angytha.
Angus: Ugh.

Stop being adorable, I can't take it. 😭

Enna stops by for an early supper and a good gossip sesh.

Enna: So how are you feeling about the baby?
Gytha: Excited, I guess. Nervous, too.

Enna: About becoming a parent?
Gytha: Yeah, and, well, because of my mother.
Enna: You'll be just fine, Gytha! You're strong and healthy, you've got the village midwife for a mother-in-law, and a magic witch for a husband.
Gytha: A magic witch? As opposed to, what, a non-magical witch?
Enna: Hush, you know what I mean.

The gray kitten... uh, Ash? Ash would like some attention, please.

Their relationship isn't perfect, you know. Angus still hates her table manners. 😔

Elmet: Hey, kid!
Angus: Hi! Um, let me just put this stuff down...

Angus: Wow, the gray hair practically came in overnight.
Elmet: The curse of my father's line, I'm afraid. We'll see someday if your brother escapes it. I think his hair is growing in dark like yours and Netty's. Speaking of, she can't stop talking about how excited she is for her first grandbaby.
Angus: She does really like babies. Which is good for a midwife, I guess.

Elmet: How's Gytha?
Angus: Oh, um, she's a bit nervous lately. I guess she started thinking about her own mother and hasn't shaken it? Her and Glamaer's mum died giving birth to them.

Elmet: Yeah, I guess that might be hard to shake. Want me to send your mum over later? Maybe she can calm her down a bit.
Angus: Oh, yes please.

River also happens to stop by right after Elmet has gone. They look so cozy in that cloak.

River: Daisy's kittens are adorable. Is Gytha planning to keep them both?
Angus: No, um, they're all spoken for. She's promised one to my uncle and the other I think to the blacksmith.
River: Ah well, I don't know if Ælfwyn's dog would get along with a cat anyway.
Angus: Um, you're welcome to stop by anytime to fawn over Daisy. That cat loves everyone.

I see Sabren is here to pick up a dozen bottles of cold cures for Uncle Faro.

Daisy: :p

The kittens grow up and everyone immediately starts squabbling over the same food dish, despite them having two.

Ash is going to go live with Eisu and Papa Mouse...

...while Diseta is adopting Stripes and hopefully will come up with a better name for him than I did.

Gytha's not having a great day, though I guess watching Angus toast his butt by the fire helps a little.

Helenet: Hi, sweetheart, how are you doing?
Gytha: Oh... I'm just tired, I guess. How're you?

Helenet: It's perfectly normal to be nervous, especially your first go around. But if it makes you feel any better, I've never yet lost a parent.
Gytha: What, ever?
Helenet: Nope.

Gytha: You know that's not normal, right? Even for the best midwives? Do you think it's because of your magic?
Helenet: Oh... I never thought about it like that. Huh. I'm so used to not being able to do much with it, I never thought that it could be helping that way.

Helenet also offers her that rejuvenation spell she's gotten good(ish) at.
Gytha: Is it supposed to taste fizzy?
Helenet: Usually.
Gytha: Hmm. It's less... noticeable when Angus does it for me. But, I mean, thank you! It's very.... energizing.

She's just not having a good day today.

Angus: Feeling any better?
Gytha: Yeah... I'm just feeling kind of blah today. I'll probably be better tomorrow.

She does get up so they can talk about beetles some more, lol. I guess she likes them for reasons besides their uses in tormenting Brigid.

How many stars can you see there, bro?

The snow falls thick and fast overnight.

Gytha: Ouch!
Angus: What's wrong?
Gytha: I think it's the false labor pangs your mum told me about. That's all.

Angus: Oh, good. Though, um, it would be very you to go into labor in the middle of a snowstorm.
Gytha: Are you calling me trouble?
Angus: In the most complimentary way possible?

Gytha: Hey, I think it's technically midwinter day now, soooo—I made this for you! It's a new cloak.
Angus: Oh, it's lovely! Thank you, Gytha.
Gytha: I thought yellow would look pretty with your blue tunic.

Gytha: Would you rub my lower back before we go back to sleep? It's really achy tonight.
Angus: Sure, anything you want.
Gytha: Ooh, anything? You should know better than to give me free rein, Angus!

Gytha: Ah—
Angus: What?
Gytha: I think the baby really is coming.
Angus: Crap, Mum always said storms bring babies on. I'm going to go run and fetch her—

Gytha: No! I don't want you to leave me here alone.
Angus: Gytha, it's hardly more than down the road.
Gytha: It's storming. And I don't want you to leave.
Angus: You said. I won't be gone long.
Gytha: There's feet of snow and you can barely see out there.
Angus: You should have a proper midwife.

Gytha: I have you.
Angus: I'm not a midwife; I know the very basics and that's it. *sigh* Fine, I'll wait, but the moment anything seems the least bit off I'm going to get her regardless.
Gytha: Okay... can you rub my back again now? It really hurts.

Daisy always has her paws full keeping an eye on these humans. Why are they so noisy about having kittens? And for that matter, why do they usually only have one kitten at a time? Seems unreasonable to go through all that trouble for just one.

Gytha and Angus's son is born right around when the storm is winding down. He looks a lot like Gytha so far! They've decided to call him Aedan.

Imagine being a newborn baby and this face is one of the first things you ever see.

Helenet: First getting married without me, now the baby too? Should I be offended?
Angus: Definitely not my idea. I would've preferred you to be the one taking care of them.
Helenet: Well, this is one reason I prefer to stay with patients who are close to their time when a storm's due, if I can. But they're both admirably healthy! Now let me cuddle my new grandbaby.

Helenet: There, sweetness, now you're nice and cozy.

This looks like Arturo made it for them out of things he found in the woods and I love it.

Aw, Angus congratulating his mother on falling in love. :)

And then Gytha swooped in to congratulate Angus on being such a hot date, lol.

With Gytha and Aedan all taken care of, Angus heads over to his new apothecary next-door for a few minutes to get it all stocked. I'm excited to have a shop for my sims to visit instead of summoning in him or Helenet all the time! He has treatments for colds, flu, and food poisoning, among other things. For midwifery-related things like morning sickness cures or that magic birth control tea, sims will still be visiting Helenet.

Congratulations to Gytha for not burning her party food this time.

Paying attention to the bald kitten instead of Daisy? A questionable decision.

Don't worry, Gytha will make sure both her children get plenty of affection.

Sooooo, which elves are you two talking about? 👀
Gytha immediately rolled a party want after Aedan was born, so I figured she wanted a chance to introduce the baby to their friends and family and to celebrate Yule as well.

I caught Shep admiring Gytha's pottery. You taught her well, Shep!

Eisu: How funny that we both became grandparents so close together, huh?
Elmet: Yeah. Man, that makes me feel old.
Eisu: We are getting old!
Elmet: Speak for yourself, Eisu. I'm thirty-eight!

The snow doesn't seem to bother anyone too much, since everyone ends up outside at some point. That haystack trampoline is very alluring.

Shep: Hi, Daisy. I gotta admit, I do miss having you chasing mice away from my grain tubs.

Diseta turned up at some point too. :)

Hi, Helenet! I always enjoy seeing their family walking by.

Though she doesn't get invited in this time because Angus and Gytha were very busy.

Now, Gytha, no pottery during thunderstorms, mkay?

'Ginormous jug' fuck, man, it sure is.

Arturo has finally completed the parental visit trifecta by turning up to harass the cat.

Angus: Arturo, d'you think you'll ever introduce yourself to the rest of the town? Now that you're not cursed anymore? Um, besides the werewolf bit.
Arturo: I don't see much need for it. I am quite happy with my current acquaintances. It seems like a lot of work to go through to make more.

Angus: Oh, you're a bit shy, aren't you?
Arturo: I'm not shy, I am retiring. There's a difference.
Angus: It's alright if you feel shy. I should know!

Angus: Well, just keep in mind that Lune is spending more time running around with the other children in town. Sooner or later she'll mention you to someone who doesn't know, um, if she hasn't already.
Arturo: True... unlike you, she hardly stops talking.

Angus makes a nettle stew for an early supper—maybe it'll help keep Gytha from catching any more colds this winter.

Angus: Gytha, do you think Arturo should introduce himself to the rest of the town?
Gytha: That sounds like a lot of trouble—
Arturo: Thank you. See?
Gytha: Ooh, but I bet we could convince some people that you're a spirit or even a god. The antlers just scream forest god, don't they? We could start a cult!
Angus: Please don't.
Arturo: That makes me even less inclined to go about uncloaked, Gytha.
Gytha: Booooo, no fun.

That wraps up the first household of winter. ❄️ Usually I play households in a certain order, but this time I just said fuck it and chose based on ~vibes~.
