It's raining at River's house, BUT no one here is being abducted by a sociopathic supernatural creature, so I think that's a step up from our last Veridia update. River themself is busy trying to put the results of their latest scrying session into words for a patron.
We caught Angus walking by with Gytha's cat. I think they would make good friends! (River and Angus, not the cat. But maybe also the cat.) Also, I keep saying this, but River is very extroverted for a 2/3 outgoing point sim.
On the other end of the spectrum: a typical Maddan interaction. River is strongly thinking about offering to help Orla poison Maddan's porridge. They won't, but they're gonna think about it.
Spotted: Aife, Enna, and Gwendolen boogieing down at the bard's booth. No rain can stop this dance party!
I wanted to get that 'get engaged to Myr' want sorted out, but they ran off to ACR on the bench before I could even click the pie menu, lmao.
Myr: Of course I would love to marry you, Riv.
Myr: ...but you know my grandmother and brother came here with me. Are you absolutely positive you want to live in a houseful of people? Because I know you like your quiet.
River: It'll be fine. Um, as long as none of you mind me popping off sometimes to spend time alone hiking or in my work shed?
Myr: Yeah, Acca is definitely not going to be allowed in the shed full of magic scrolls and gewgaws anyway.
River: I mean, none of it's dangerous. Just fragile.
In short order, Myr, Acca, and their grandmother Ælfwyn move into River's place, with Acca and Ælfwyn moving into the previously unused loft. If you want a refresher on everyone's personalities and aspirations, here's their intro post!
Wyn won't fall for any flattery from some young whippersnapper, you can be sure of that!
They're gonna need a bigger table soon, when they actually have money. It turns out writing prophecies isn't very lucrative, actually???
Aw, but look how happy River is. This is so not the pairing I thought would happen when I tossed all these sims into town.
River: It's kind of funny when you think about how we came all the way here for different reasons, only to fall for each other now.
Myr: Yeah... I don't think it would've happened back home, do you? We lived very separate lives in Wyll.
River: That's true.
Wyn has an arts and crafts hobby, so she gets a loom. Looms and spindles for everybody! And Acca is very interested in River's game board, though he doesn't know all of the rules yet.
River wants to know if Acca is excited for his sister's wedding and party.
I don't think so.

I loved Helenet greeting every single person at the party but Maddan. She will be ignoring him as much as possible. (Anyway, enemy-ship with Maddan ended, now Fenrir is her new enemy.)
Orla: This is so exciting! I'm so happy for you.
River: Thanks, Orla. Um, I'm happy you could be here.
Orla: I would never miss your wedding, or an opportunity to eat cake!
River and Myr exchange their vows on a beautiful, sunny autumn day in front of Myr's family and all their new friends. 💕
Helenet and Elmet came for the ceremony but left right afterward—understandable, between recent events and the fact that they have ten thousand small children at home.
Ælfwyn: I caught you, you little stinker
Acca: Haha, Gran, noooo, put me down!
River can't imagine ever getting tired of seeing Myr's gorgeous smile across from them.
Wyn brought Acca along with her to the market to give the newlyweds some space and ran into Helenet there.
Ælfwyn: It was a lovely wedding, I'll say that.
Helenet: It was! I'm partial to autumn weddings, after having my own then.
Ælfwyn: *drinks faster*
Acca is continuing to make friends with all the local kids. He's very gregarious!
Spotted: Helenet doing the same little shy sim dance that Angus does. I guess I've never noticed her dancing by herself on a community lot before.
Myr is still getting used to her spouse just up and conjuring dishes out of thin air. I'm shocked too, Myr, that cloche does not look period-appropriate.
Myr: Maybe you can just warn me first? It's just a little startling when something suddenly pops out of thin air.
River: Um, I'll try to remember. It's sort of second habit, though...
Myr: Thanks. How does that work, anyway? Making food out of nothing?
River: I don't know.
Myr: You don't know? How?
River: I mean... I was trained in divination, not magical theory.
Myr: Fair enough.
Acca: I like it! I love pie.
Wyn wakes up with a bad cough rattling around in her chest.
Myr: Gran, you alright?
Ælfwyn: I'm—*cough*—fine, girl. *cough cough*
Myr: That sounds awful. River's healer friend is coming by later, talk to her, alright?
Ælfwyn: Fine. If it makes you happy. *cough*
I turned my back on Acca for ONE MINUTE.
She's never sick when I leave her household, yet she's constantly coughing around town. Wash your hands, girl. Maybe wear a mask.
Helenet is happy to give Wyn an impromptu check-up and suggests some
During her visit, Helenet tells River about her and Arturo's attempt to make that dream tea, which really did not go how any of them were expecting it to.
River: So... there's a bunch of these fae just running around the woods in the valley? *shudders* I'm not sure I like that.
Helenet: I don't think there's many of them left, but yes, I don't love it either. I need to go tell the headwoman about it soon. I'd like it if Arturo would come with me to explain, but he's gone a bit shy again. He's rather reluctant to leave the bounds of our property right now.
River: Understandably. Um, I'm sorry this all happened. I would suggest bringing him here to test the waters, but, um... *waves hand* I'm not sure trying to introduce him to new people would be very helpful right now? Maybe I could come visit tomorrow?
Helenet: That would be nice. I wouldn't mind having you check whether you can still feel the curse-tie, either. Not that I don't believe Macha, but... I don't believe any of them. And you're a lot more sensitive to this stuff than I am.
River: I could definitely do that!
Helenet: Soooooo, enough about that. Any bundles of joy on the way yet?
River: Haha, um, no, not yet, but we're looking forward to it.
Me: *glares at the counter omsp I forgot to make invisible*

That was a great chance card, because we had like fifty simoleons left and I realized that Acca didn't have any toys at all. Now he has a pile of dirt. Look, he's aging up in two days, he'll be fine, okay?
He's also been entertaining himself by trying to fish in the tiny pond for... I'm not sure what's going to be in there. Frogs? Tiny crayfish?
Acca: Whatcha doing?
River: Um, making some magic-imbued ingredients. Sometimes I make things for Helenet—the midwife.
Acca: Can I help?
River: You... could be moral support?
Acca: Eh... that sounds boring.
Myr: You're looking better now. Did you talk to the healer?
Ælfwyn: Yes, yes. She gave me some disgusting-tasting tincture, but it seemed to help.
Ælfwyn: ...and then I said, that's not what an eye tooth means!
Gráinne: Hah!
After meeting her at Myr's wedding, Wyn set her eye on Gráinne here and I'm so here for it. One of you is going to have to change your hair, though, because this is a little too similar for me.
Also, Myr is so pretty.
Myr's romance secondary is pretty easy to satisfy, since she pretty much rolls a 'go on date' want every day. River is more than happy to go share a drink with her at the mead hall, and dance if someone is playing music tonight.
Spotted: Orla singing her heart out and hopefully not drinking too much of whatever is in those bottles...
...and Sun underage drinking. Sun, do your mothers know about this?!
Sun: My mothers are the ones driving me to drink, thanks.
Don't worry, Jia is here to make sure she gets home safely! Boy, there are a lot of completely platonic backrubs happening between these two.
Myr: That was—do you hear something?

Alexios Quickhand ran off when he realized there were people coming to investigate, but not before grabbing their cook pot and fire grate. I really wish witches could cast spells on burglars, like how werewolves can fight them or SentryBots can zap ’em. Imagine witches casting expello simae, or evil sims casting any number of hexes—maybe spiritus poultria to embarrass the burglar into leaving?
Myr: Who the fuck steals a fire grate? What the fuck?!
Acca is also understandably upset, but Ælfwyn does her best to comfort and distract him.
Ælfwyn: I'm glad you've made so many friends here, kiddo.
Acca: Yeah... the kids here are pretty fun.
Acca has decided to embrace the jock life.
River's garden is still here. btw.
Myr does something I've never noticed before, which is that instead of running off when her morning sickness hits, she just casually strolls to the closest toilet, lol. Poor baby.
Wyn went into town, hoping to see Gráinne again, but I immediately got distracted sim-watching. Norweni playing riverstones with one of her great-nieces is so cute to me. 🥰
Aífe, could you not hurl the ball at the old woman quite so hard?

It's off to the mead hall for a bite to eat, where Gráinne still isn't here, but some of the villagers are telling stories.
Shep: Pfffft, faeries aren't real. I should know! I spent ages in those woods, and did I see one faery? No.
Spotted: Aífe again, trying her hand at the archery target. I can't tell if she's pleased with her attempt or not.
Kinet: You're doing great, babe!
Aífe: Eh, I have an idea for something much more fun. Wanna go find somewhere more private?
Kinet: Ooh, definitely.
Wyn found a stray dog back home.
Ælfwyn: You're a fearsome looking boy. How about I give you some nice meaty bones and you chase off thieves in exchange?
Creature: Woof!
Myr got another promotion and looks really thrilled about it.
Myr: I'll be thrilled when I feel less shit.
Helenet brought her daughter-in-law along to visit. Maybe she's trying to help River and Myr make more friends in Veridia.
I guess Gytha is actually here because sometimes when you go to a random child's birthday party, you get free cake.
Wyn slept through all the cheering. She's very tired from waking up at 2 am from the burglar. 😔
Teen!Acca has grown into a Popularity/Fortune sim with an interest in boys who are good at dancing or athletics. Much like his sister, he's very cute.
I know, Myr, it's so hot when your spouse magically conjures up grilled cheese sandwiches.
Ælfwyn: Acca, what are you doing in the way?
Acca: Strength exercises. I decided I want to learn to fight and defend us like the warriors in Veridia can. Maybe if they're still fighting near Wyll in a few years, I can go and help!
Ælfwyn: The hell you will, boy. Go to bed.
I decided that between his sports OTH, high interest in crime, and life events, that Acca is going to learn to fight and train with the village guard like Jia is doing. He even has a LTW to win fights against 20 sims. Where the fuck am I going to find you 20 different sims to fight in a tiny village, Acca?
River: Oh, wow. Hello there, baby!
Myr: I'm glad you're excited, but I really need to pee, so if we could continue this afterward?
River: Right, yep, sorry.
Wyn's stray dog came back and decided to stick around. 🥰
Creature is a friendly, aggressive genius, which seems like an interesting combo.
River: Not that I don't like dogs, but, um, I'm pretty sure we didn't have a dog when I went to bed.
Myr: Oh, yeah, Gran found him outside. She thinks he'll defend the house. I'm not sure, he seems rather sweet.
River: If she wants an attack dog, I can ask Orla if we can borrow her goat.
Creature is doing his job of inspecting every passerby and also every meal that is made in the house.
Jia: So you want to learn to fight with us?
Acca: Yeah, I want to be able to defend our home and all that. I have to ask, is the headwoman really as stern as she seems?
Jia: Naaaaah. My father is the secret hardass you're gonna have to watch out for!
River and Myr stopped by the market so Myr could pick some fabric for a new dress, and spent some time dancing too.
Acca: Come here, pup! Come!
Creature: Into the fire pit? Not in your life.
It's the end of the round, so I guess River and Myr will have to wait til next time to meet their baby.
