An anon on Tumblr asked about Middleground’s founders, so here's some fun facts about my ancient neighborhood! I truly have no idea how old Middleground is at this point, but I’ve been playing it off and on for an embarrassingly long time considering that most of the second gen is still alive.

Most of the sims here are remakes I created a while ago, because I’m much better (I think) at sculpting sim faces now and also I needed to remake Margarete’s face in order to fix her daughter’s teeth, it’s a long story.

Margarete Blanch, Fortune sim and alleged newspaper thief, once danced onstage as a professional ballerina in Greenwich’s ballet corp, but a career-ending injury caused her to retire in a small suburban town. She married Greenwich’s Mr. Big, Ocean, and pursued several entrepreneurial ventures while they raised their three children, Clara, George, and Johnny. After her husband’s death, she married Jeremy Cobb and spent elderhood with him.

Maria Suarez, a quiet and serious Knowledge sim, always had a talent for music and found some success as a concert pianist. She moved to Middleground from Elsewhere with her fiance, Ronald. They had twin boys, George and Fred, as well as a third son, Ron, who was born after Ron’s untimely death and was named after him. Her love of piano passed down to her granddaughter, who is named Maria after her and who also now owns Maria Sr’s piano. (Fun fact: everyone who is tagged as ‘Suarez’ is actually named 'Suarez-Wolkalski’ in game but I went for the simplest option when I started tagging sims.)

Ronald Wolkalski, mild-mannered Family sim, happily followed his fiance Maria to Middleground. He worked as an elementary school teacher at the local school while raising their twins. Tragically, he died young in a ROS event back when I remembered to do that car accident before the birth of his and Maria’s third child.

Ayla Donnelly, Popularity sim and friend to anyone and everyone, pursued inspiration for her art in Middleground’s green hills and the blue expanse of Lake Madeline. She married her boyfriend, Luke, and they had one child, a son named Zachary. Ayla won the Middleground Gazette’s Best Dressed in Town award three times! Ayla is also the only one (of the sims I made) here with her original face, go Ayla.

Luke Donnelly, Fortune sim and corporate lawyer, has been called his wife’s exact opposite, but that’s why they worked so well together. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed hosting house parties with Ayla and playing football with his best friend, Ocean Blanch.

Marion Samuels, Knowledge sim, purchased a plot of land on the outskirts of Middleground and set to work turning it into the small farm of her dreams. She soon met and married Jeremy Cobb (becoming Marion Cobb), opened a store in town, and had a daughter named Emily. Later she and Jeremy welcomed his alien-hybrid twins, Artemis and Castor. For a time she raised Emily’s own child, Isabel, while Emily attended college. All her children were forced to work at the store, but ultimately Cobb Farm and the greengrocer passed onto their current owner, granddaughter Isabel.

Jeremy Cobb (made by AlfredAskew), also a Knowledge sim, was friendly, eager to lend a hand, and loved to explore the nearby city of Greenwich and the forests around Middleground both. His neighbors would never believe you if you told them he was really an SCIA agent. Several of his descendants still have his very cute ears (Claire has them, off the top of my head).

Alex Leigh (she and her sister weren’t made by me–I swear they’re sims shared by Jessthex on LJ, but I’m not positive), how many freaking Knowledge sims are in this town, moved to Middleground with her twin sister, Vivian, and worked as a teacher. She had Christopher and Leah Leigh with her husband, Robin, and later welcomed twins Isabella and Boring David. Their marriage was rather tumultuous, and tbh I can’t remember much else about Alex. Soz, girl.

Vivian Leigh (see above), Fortune sim and 80s music aficionado, ran a bakery in town, which is currently a clothing store owned by June Marking–it still smells like cupcakes inside! That’s Viv’s legacy! Anyway, Viv had a daughter, Zoey, with a townie called Armand; their relationship didn’t last, and she later met and married another townie, David Gonzales. They had one child together, Evangeline. All the rooms in her house were painted extremely bright colors. (David is still kicking around! His life bar is really full, though.)

NOT PICTURED: Charlotte Marking, the mother of June, Martin, and May, whose sim I don’t have and who was extremely boring and starved to death on free will, next to her fridge. I resurrected her as a zombie, yet she was somehow more boring like that, so I just killed off her and her husband and made the triplets teenage orphans. 👍
