Summer has come to Veridia! Shep takes a break from tending her crops and her hives to visit the well for water and socializing. Mostly socializing. I love her expressions.

Shep: No one wants to hear about that, Helenet.

The trip to the well quickly turns into a full-on day out on the town. NPC Bartender is horrified at these shenanigans in their bar mead hall.

Shep: Haha, wow, you’re a lot more tolerable when I’m tipsy.

Elmet: Gee, thanks.

A positive conversation? Flirting?! Everything’s coming up ~~Milhouse~~ Elmet!

Tipsy!Shep decides a trip to the bathhouse sounds like the best thing. She really needs her own tub. On the other hand, hauling and heating all that water by herself... nah.

But never mind about Shep, the sim we’re supposedly following right now! Outside the bathhouse, there’s an incident between Helenet and another local (aka random townie the game made so I don’t remember his name)

Elmet: Hey, what’s your problem? Are you drunk? Why would you do that?!

Helenet: Gytha, sweetie, come with me.

Gytha: But I want to watch the fight!

Helenet: NO ONE is FIGHTING while I’m here, got it?

Elmet: Ugh, fine.

Elmet: You alright?

Helenet: Yes, of course. I can take care of myself.

Elmet: I’m sure you can. Just, that was rude of him, and...

Helenet: I can take care of myself, but thank you for standing up for me.

Elmet: Sure. Anytime.

Never mind, he’s back to normal.

*looks back and forth between Shep and Derelei’s want pants* Hmm.

She fed you and told you jokes, idk what more you want, Derelei. We’re at least two hundred years off from restaurants yet. (Should Shep open a restaurant? No, no she shouldn’t. She has no money.)

Shep: NOT AGAIN! Fuck!!!

Both of Shep’s wheat fields were taken out by drought early in the season. It’s too late now to start a new field, so Shep’s brewing dreams will have to wait another year.

Shep: Excuse me, EVERYTHING SUCKS.

Yeah, I know, baby girl.

Luckily Shep’s friend Diseta walks by soon, and she cheers Shep up with a few dirty jokes.

Diseta: You know that I’ve decided to commit myself to Norweni now, right?

Shep: Yeah, don’t worry, I won’t step on any toes. Friends?

Diseta: Friends!

Diseta catches Shep up on the happenings in her new household. Shep is glad it’s not her caring for all those new babies.

Shep: You want ME to clean the basin?

.........yes.

My rules for Veridia are simple. If I see Elmet having a positive social interaction, I take a screenshot because I’m so shocked by it. Maybe Elmet is also tolerable when Shep’s not tipsy; the jury is still out on it.

One of the main features of the Longest Day festival in summer is competitions! Shep and her beautiful flower crown decide to try her hand at axe throwing. Elmet decides to go somewhere farther away from these poorly aimed sharp objects.

Shep ends up next to Derelei’s sister, Brigid, when she sits down to eat.

Shep: The mead’s great this year, right?

Brigid: I don’t partake. It’s bad for the body’s spirit.

Shep: *minus minus*

Shep runs into Elmet again the next day. Dude is EVERYWHERE lately.

Shep: Is that your dog?

Elmet: Uh, no, they just kinda follow me around for some reason. It’s cute, though, right?

Shep: I guess. Want some lunch?

Elmet: I’ll never say no to that.

Elmet: You want me to throw this? Okay, just one more time. There’s sandwiches to be had. Wh—okay, fine, I’ll bring you some if I can sneak it into my pocket without her noticing.

When he’s not being disagreeable, Elmet is entertaining enough, and he laughs at all of Shep’s jokes, even the dirty ones (especially the dirty ones, actually).

Shep ends her summer with a little work on her loom and starts the process of mead making. If the wheat fields didn’t work out this year, she’ll just have to focus on something else this fall.
